Wholesale roundwood

Wholesale wood logs (raw roundwood)

Roundwood log supply — unprocessed Galician pine and eucalyptus, not cut or dried firewood — for industrial buyers who need raw forestry material as an input, not fuel ready to burn.

In an industrial context, "wholesale wood logs" almost always means roundwood: the log as it comes out of the forest, not cut into short lengths, not dried, and not yet through a sawmill. It's the raw material bought by other sawmills, panel or pulp mills, and biomass plants — not a product that's ready for a fireplace.

Maderas Caamaño is a family-run sawmill in Berdoias, Vimianzo (A Coruña), Galicia, and part of our own business model is buying standing and round timber as the raw material for our saw. We work with roundwood volume as a matter of course, and that ongoing relationship with the Galician forest is what allows us, in some cases, to supply pine or eucalyptus logs in the round to buyers who need the unprocessed material rather than sawn timber.

Important: if what you actually need is firewood — logs already cut, split and dried, ready to burn — this isn't the right product. See our firewood page instead for cut, dried firewood rather than raw roundwood, with its usual formats and packaging.

Raw roundwood versus firewood: not the same product

This is a common point of confusion and worth being explicit about. Roundwood is the whole log as it arrives from the forest: it may still have bark, comes in long and irregular lengths, and hasn't been through any drying process. It's bought by volume of usable wood, to be transformed afterward — sawn, chipped for panel production, or reduced to biomass fuel.

Firewood, by contrast, is a finished product: logs cut to short, manageable lengths, split, and dried to a moisture level suited to burning well in a stove or fireplace. Our oak, eucalyptus and compressed hardwood firewood is sold in 25cm and 33cm lengths, as loose bulk, in nets, bundles, or bulk bags. If that's what you need, our firewood page has the full format and packaging detail.

This page is for the other kind of buyer: someone who needs the unprocessed raw material, not fuel that's already ready to burn.

Where our roundwood comes from

Maderas Caamaño buys standing and round timber as the basis of our own sawmilling activity. We're not just occasional roundwood buyers — it's the raw material we work with every day to produce sawn timber, pallets and biomass. That ongoing relationship with the Galician forest and local forestry suppliers is what lets us, when availability allows, also offer pine or eucalyptus roundwood to other industrial buyers who need it as an input for their own process.

We don't present this as a fixed catalogue product, because it isn't one: roundwood is negotiated lot by lot, based on what's available at the time and on each buyer's specification.

Who this supply is for

Raw roundwood makes sense for buyers who will process it themselves — for example, other sawmills looking to supplement their own supply, panel or pulp mills that use roundwood as a process input, and biomass plants that chip or grind roundwood into fuel. It is generally not the right fit for a buyer who simply wants finished wood without further processing on their end; for that, our sawn timber or firewood ranges are usually a better starting point. If your business fits one of the roundwood-buyer profiles above and you're operating within the EU single market, supply can be arranged with a CMR note for road transport, and if you hold a VIES-verified intra-EU VAT number, the transaction may benefit from the standard reverse-charge mechanism used in EU B2B trade.

And once it's sawn: our processed timber

If what you're after isn't raw roundwood but already-sawn timber, that's exactly the next step in our own process: the pine and eucalyptus roundwood we work with becomes Galician sawn pine timber and sawn eucalyptus timber, each with its own formats and specifications on its dedicated page. Plenty of buyers who start out looking for roundwood find that already-sawn timber suits their needs better, and vice versa — it depends entirely on what your own downstream process looks like.

How to request a quote

Roundwood volume doesn't fit neatly into a generic specification table: every buyer needs a different diameter, length and volume depending on their own process, and availability shifts with the forestry season. Rather than publish generic figures, we'd rather you tell us your exact specification directly — species, the diameters and lengths you need, and an approximate volume — and Maderas Caamaño will confirm availability, delivery terms and the most suitable Incoterm for your case.

Frequently asked questions

Can this roundwood be burned directly in a stove or fireplace?

Not as supplied. Raw roundwood isn't cut to firewood length or dried for combustion. If you need wood ready to burn, see our firewood page, which is built for that use.

What roundwood species can you supply?

We primarily work with Galician pine and eucalyptus, depending on forest availability at the time.

What's the minimum order volume?

We don't publish a fixed figure, since it depends on the available lot and each buyer's specification. Tell us what you need and we'll confirm what we can offer.

How is transport arranged and what documentation is used?

Roundwood is typically supplied by the full truckload, as is general practice in the sector. International road transport within the EU uses the standard CMR consignment note, and the Incoterm (EXW, FOB, or delivered) is agreed to suit each buyer.
